Alternative Pest Solutions applies the principals of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to all our pest control solutions. IPM is the coordinated use of multiple methods to control a pest problem. These methods include inspection, monitoring, sanitation, exclusion, mechanical control, biological control, and if needed, chemical control.
Alternative Pest Solutions is proficient in providing service to facilities operating under the National Organic Program (NOP). Only when first line methods have proven ineffective, we will petition for permission to use a conventional pest control material or method. In that case, protecting the organic integrity and food safety of our client’s products are the first and most important concerns.
We proactively treat empty grain bins or flat storage buildings to kill remaining insects before adding grain from the new harvest. Insect growth regulators are applied that prevent reproduction for an extended time.
We aggressively find the source of the problem instead of merely setting traps. Once we determine the source we use strategic bait and trap placement and continue to proactively monitor the problem.
Spiders in the tunnels and basement areas are a growing problem for agribusiness. Besides treating the area with insecticide, we go a step further and remove all the spider webs to inhibit future infestation.
Pigeons and sparrows living at your facility can contaminate product and spread disease. Early bird infestation is unique - we exhaust all non-toxic alternative before considering lethal options.
We make use of pheromones as part of our proactive insect assessment. If thresholds are met, we will discuss control options.
Documentation is an important part of industry audits and recordkeeping. We are knowledgeable in all FSMA ad HACCP documentation requirements and will provide you with the necessary paperwork.
